Suede Mini Skirt

The 70's vibe is super hot for fall this season. Think fringe, over the knee boots, baby doll dresses, floppy hats, and suede. I love this suede mini skirt because it reminds me of something I could have gotten out of my mom's closet when she was young- in fact I think she had this exact skirt! I paired my skirt with a simple sheer blouse, and suede ankle boots. This look is perfect for a warm fall day, but I also cant wait to wear this skirt with tights, boots, and sweaters when the temps become cooler. A great transitional piece to have this season!

Ponchos for Fall

Ponchos are hot for fall. I love how classic and chic they look, and they are so simple to throw on. I like to pair a poncho with a simple tee, jeans, and boots. It's the perfect look for fall festivities like a day at the orchard or tailgating. Im also excited to pair my over the knee boots with a few of my ponchos this fall!

I have had this poncho for some time, but I found this (much cheaper and almost identical!) and I am loving this, Ankle boots Forever 21, White T-shirt Old Navy, Jeans Rich and Skinny.

Fall is all about layering. I love this look because you could easily wear the top half to the office with a skirt or ankle pants and throw jeans on for evening drinks, or this look is cute as is. This sweater looks super orange in photos but is more  red in person (see link for details).

I wore this outfit while we were out and about doing errands for the house and then did dinner later that night. The weather has been absolutely beautiful here in Ohio, the sun has been shining almost everyday, and the leaves are already starting to change. It's times like this that I am so happy we live in an area with all four seasons.

Help with How to Wear Over-the-knee Boots

I have been getting a lot of questions on how to wear over the knee boots.... Oh the quandary of the over-the-knee boot; To wear them or not to wear them? Are they fashion forward or are they a little too much? For all boot lovers who are ready for these answers, over the knee boots are yet again, a definite yes this season. That being said, if you were part of the over-the-knee boot craze last season, then you are in serious luck this season. From Paris to New York, the over-the-knee boot strutted up and down runways, tapping into the feminine, yet powerful statement pieces of the season.

Being shown in a variety of colors from black to brown, nude, even jewel tones, over-the-knee boots are sleek, sexy, and powerful in one.  Although over-the-knee boots are portrayed as being playful or sexy, they can be quite casual and functional. Over-the-knee boots come in a variety of styles like wedges, flats, stilettos, even small kitten heels. The variety of heel options allows for an over-the-knee boot look to go from sultry and sexy to cute and casual in no time.

Wool pin skirts just at or just above the knee in emerald green, or burgundy and mid-length pleated skirts in black, brown, or navy blue are the perfect style of skirt that go with high-heeled over-the-knee boots.Sticking with a rich jewel tone color or basic black, cream, or brown always looks chic. Pair your skirt and high-heeled over-the-knee boots with a simple silk blouse, blazer, or even turtleneck. Keep jewelry simple and clean. Again, the boots do the outfit justice.

Here are some looks that I put together that may give you inspiration on how to style your over the knee boots!

Over-the-knee boots in wedge, flats, and heel all look amazing with dresses.  For a more casual look, try a basic shirt dress belted, with a fitted blazer and flat-over-the knee boots. Try changing up the look by throwing on a pair of tights. Sweater dresses look adorable with wedge over-the-knee boots. Again, make sure that your dress is not too short and keep accessories to a minimum. Pair with a pretty scarf or a pair of basic gold or silver hoops. The wedge boot gives  the typical sweater dress an upgrade

A flat riding style over-the-knee boot is perfect for first time wearers of the boot. Flat over-the-knee boots are not as intimidating as high-heeled ones because they can be paired with your most comfortable, cute looks. Also, flat is always the most comfortable so it’s easy to throw on for shopping, errands, or lunch. This style will allow you to get used to the look, which I can almost guarantee you will fall in love with. A flat over-the-knee boot should be paired with leggings, or skinny jeans and a loose fitting blouse, sweater, or tunic.

Comfy Cozy

Long cardigans are a hot fall staple. Being seen with flats, tees, and jeans, or layered with dresses, this look is always super chic. I love wearing this long cardi with jeans and my favorite tie up flats (which are going to be huge for spring so myaswell get now!) I wore this outfit to lunch and then running around town...I felt comfortable but still fashionable. A good go-to look this fall.
Side note, Bath and Body works has there 2 for $24 candle special so we filled the house with yummy fall scents. We purchased the Brown Sugar All Spice (omg soooo yummy) and the Pumpkin Lovers layered candle.

The military jacket is hot for fall. It has this super cool and relaxed feel while still being super chic and high fashion. I love pairing this jacket with preppy, and ultra girly pieces- mixing the rugged with the soft. It's a must have this fall that will transition perfectly even into spring.

Fall Mantel Decor

I am absolutely loving fall right now, and as if everything pumpkin surrounding me wasn't enough, I decided that it was time to decorate our mantel. I went to homegoods and picked up these straw bundles (which you could easily make with straw and yarn), found these mercury pumpkins at Home Goods, and the plastic pumpkins at Michael's Craft Store. Make sure you have an odd number of pumpkins ( i have 5) it creates balance and is easier on the eye. I then filled in with clusters of leaves and pumpkins from Michael's Craft Store. I love the way it turned out and love that it can carry through until Thanksgiving. I hope this gives you some inspiration for your fall mantel. Cheers to fall decorating (with a pumpkin spice latte of course) ;)
